MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Minnesota police officers have arrested 605 drunk drivers after two weekends of a statewide DWI enforcement campaign.
The Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety reported the latest numbers on Tuesday. They say the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign will continue through Labor Day.
A similar effort was enforced last year at this time, which totaled 1,787 DWI arrests.
State officials are urging motorists to plan ahead for a sober ride to avoid the dangers and consequences of a DWI. A DWI offense can result in loss of a driver’s license for up to a year, thousands of dollars in fines and possible jail time.
