MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – If you’re planning on partying in downtown Minneapolis this summer, be prepared to see more police officers.
Police and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Department will be keeping a close eye on the downtown crowd this summer in hopes of preventing potential violence.
There have been several fights and shootings after bars close and the club crowds let out.
Crime downtown is relatively low, but it has recently spiked by up to 56 percent.
Officials say there will be more squad cars in the area, and more officers walking the streets.
