MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A 35-year-old man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison in connection to an armed robbery of a White Bear Lake bar, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Tyice Alexander Phillips was earlier found guilty for one count of discharging a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Philips and two other men entered a White Bear Lake bar just before 2 a.m. wearing masks and brandishing handguns. They allegedly ordered bar patrons to the floor at gunpoint and ordered bar employees to open a safe.
A bar patron apparently tried to wrestle a gun from one of the robbers and another bar patron was shot when the gun went off. The two robbers then fled with cash from the bar and escaped in a car with a third suspect, according to the complaint.
Philips was arrested about an hour later after a police chase.
