MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Police say a Bloomington, Minn. man accused of throwing a vise through the windshield of a vehicle, which seriously injured an Iraq War veteran, was arrested Friday after fleeing police and nearly ramming an officer.

The new details were released Monday after Gerret Parks, 39, was arrested Friday in Polk County, Wis. Parks allegedly threw a vise at Jon Stacke’s vehicle, which broke his jaw and shattered six of his teeth.

Police officers spotted Parks in a black SUV, traveling southbound on State Highway 35 at approximately 70-80 mph in a 35-mph zone.

Officers activated their lights and attempted to pull Parks over, but he sped off at a high rate of speed.

Police say Parks blew through several stop signs and nearly rammed into an officer that attempted to get ahead of him.

Parks eventually stopped the vehicle and was forced to the ground by police. Officers noted Parks ignored multiple directions by police. Officers were forced to pull Parks out of his vehicle and on to the ground.

Parks could face additional charges for fleeing police, reckless driving, resisting arrest and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
