MOORHEAD, Minn. (AP) — A rural Moorhead man accused of trying to kill his ex-girlfriend with a baseball bat is now accused of trying to call her from jail.
Prosecutors have charged 34-year-old Michael Karau with two felony counts of violating a judge’s no-contact order.
Clay County prosecutors say Karau tried to call the woman from jail 12 times over two days. Court documents say Karau made contact during two of the phone calls.
The woman’s mother reported the calls to the sheriff’s office.
KFGO-AM reports Karau remains jailed on charges including attempted murder and aggravated assault.
A phone message left for Karau’s public defender was not immediately returned Thursday.
