MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 27-year-old Richfield man is facing charges after driving his vehicle out of a tow lot without paying a fine and hitting a worker from the lot.
Dejovon Deandre Harris was charged Friday in Anoka County Court with first-degree criminal damage to property and fifth-degree assault in connection with the Dec. 15 incident.
According to the charges, authorities were called at about 2:02 p.m. on Dec. 15 to Schmit Towing at 92 43rd Avenue NE in Fridley for an incident at the tow lot. When authorities arrived, Harris was sitting on the curb outside the lot.
The complaint states Harris removed his car from the tow lot without paying a fine through the tow gate, damaging it and hit a tow lot employee. The worker was not hurt in the incident and the gate, valued at about $1,000, needed to be replaced.
If convicted, Harris faces more than five years in prison and more than $10,000 in fines.
