MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 23-year-old Farmington woman is accused of drunkenly stealing a white limousine in late September after tagging along with a group of men who had hired the limousine to do some late night bar hopping, court documents show.
Lauren Elissa Mongelluzzo is charged with one felony count of theft and two misdemeanor counts of driving while impaired. If convicted of the felony, she could face a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
A criminal complaint says Mongelluzzo made off with the limousine in the early hours of Sept. 29 outside a bar in Hampton. When the men she’d tagged along with went into a bar, she stayed in the limousine, the vehicle’s driver said. When the driver had to go to the bathroom, he left the limousine running and Mongelluzzo inside it. When he came back from the restroom, however, the limousine was gone.
After police officers found the limousine with Mongelluzzo inside it, they noticed she smelled strongly of alcohol, the complaint said. A breath test performed later showed she had a blood alcohol level of .17. She told police she’d been drinking vodka tonics.
Mongelluzzo was identified by the limousine’s driver, and another witness told police that she drove off with the limousine.
Officers arrested Mongelluzzo and brought her to the Dakota County Jail.
