MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police in the east metro say officers found a boy with multiple apparent stab wounds just blocks away from a high school.

Just after 3 p.m., Oakdale police responded to the scene on the 600 block of Granada Avenue North. They found the victim conscious, suffering multiple injuries consistent with a knife attack. Emergency crews treated the boy and brought him to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. His condition is not yet known.

Officials at Tartan High School, which is just a few blocks northwest of where the boy was reported lying wounded on the ground, say the victim is a 10th grader who was on his way home when he was attacked.

Officers arrested another boy in connection to the attack after he gave a statement to investigators, police say.

So far, the investigation suggests the attacker and the victim knew each other. Police say no other suspects are being sought at this time.

The person of interest is being treated for his injuries at a medical facility and will be booked at Washington County Jail, pending formal assault charges.

Tartan High School officials say that the school was put on lockdown for about a half hour following the attack.

There was no word on if a weapon was recovered.

If you know anything about the incident, call investigators at 651-702-5213.
