MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Minnesota-based nonprofit that helps people in power wheelchairs play hockey is asking for help in finding a stolen equipment trailer.

The Minnesota PowerHockey League says an equipment trailer was stolen either late Wednesday or early Thursday near Carburetion and Turbo Systems, a building located on the 1800 block of Eagle Creek Boulevard in Shakopee.

The trailer is a white, 6 foot by 12 foot, single-axle trailer with a blue PowerHockey logo (see the image above) on both sides. The trailer is valued at $3,000, the nonprofit said.

Some of the equipment the trailer contained was found near Wayzata High School in Plymouth, Minn. Staff at the school recovered some of the equipment, but some of the items sustained damage due to getting run over by cars.

Some of the items left near the school were padded boards, hockey sticks, hockey nets, jerseys, a P.A. speaker, and a scoreboard.

This is the second time a trailer has been stolen from the Minnesota PowerHockey League in four years, the nonprofit said.

The nonprofit is asking for tips on the location of the trailer and donations to replace the stolen and damaged equipment. If you know anything, call Craig McClellan at 763-535-4736, or email him at craigm@powerhockey.com.

The 2012 Minnesota PowerHockey season is scheduled to start April 28.
