MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police are investigating after a female University of Minnesota student was the victim of an armed robbery late last week.
Authorities said the incident happened at about 10:20 p.m. last Thursday near the area of 11th Avenue SE and 7th Street SE, just a few blocks from the U of M campus. Police said the victim and a friend were walking northbound on 11th Avenue when they encountered a group of six men.
As the two walked through the group, the men surrounded them and one of them pointed a gun. The suspects then took the victim’s purse, iPhone and other valuables before the group fled the area. Neither the victim nor her friend was injured.
Police said the only description they have of the suspect with the gun is that he was a man, about 5-feet, 10-inches tall and 20 to 25 years old. He was wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident. Minneapolis Police said the incident is under investigation, and anyone with information should call police at (612) 692-8477.
