MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 40-year-old Wisconsin woman was arrested Saturday and is accused of driving drunk and crashing into a ditch with her 1-year-old grandson in the car, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities responded to a one-vehicle crash at about 8:02 p.m. Saturday on the 2100 block of 250th Street in St. Croix Falls, Wis. When authorities arrived, the vehicle was on its side and the woman, identified as Jennifer Lee Langermann, was sitting on an ATV near the scene. She told police she was coming from Centuria, Wis., had picked up her grandson and was heading to Eureka.
She told police she “had a few beers” earlier in the day and hadn’t done anything since the crash. Police detected a strong odor of alcohol on her and failed field sobriety tests. A preliminary breath test showed she had a blood alcohol level of .215 at the time of the crash. She was taken into custody on suspicion of operating while intoxicated causing injury.
Authorities said her 1-year-old grandson, who was with her in the car at the time of the crash, was transported to a hospital and treated for a cut above his eye. Langermann was taken to a hospital, refused treatment and was taken into custody. She told authorities she did not have anything to drink after the crash.
The incident is under investigation.
