MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – On Sunday night, dozens of parents wanted to show that they “stand by their sons.”

A rally held in north Minneapolis was partly in response to the “not guilty” verdict in the George Zimmerman trial. But organizers are also upset about crime, a lack of jobs and what they consider unjust incarcerations of black men.

The group says this rally shows, they’ll stand by their sons and march for justice, in peace.

Minneapolis was among a hundred cities that had rallies on Saturday over the Trayvon Martin case.

Many believe the “stand your ground” laws are unsafe and should be thrown out.

Martin’s mom, Sabrina Fulton, told a crowd in New York, she’s trying to protect other children.

“Not only do I vow to you to do what I can for Trayvon Martin,” Fulton said, “I promise you I’m going to work hard for your children as well, because it’s important.”

A jury found George Zimmerman not guilty of murder last week.

His family insists race did not play a role in the deadly confrontation last February.

The Justice Department is now considering whether to bring a civil rights case against Zimmerman.
