MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police in the southeast Twin Cities metro are looking for two suspects after a man was threatened with a knife Thursday morning in a robbery.
Authorities said the incident happened at about 3:12 a.m. on the 2200 block of Larry Lane in the city of Newport, which is between South St. Paul and Inver Grove Heights. When authorities arrived, a man said that he was robbed at knife point.
The victim told police he was talking to another man over the computer and was going to meet him in the Newport area. The victim said they were planning on having sex. Two white men got into his car and threatened the victim with a knife. The victim gave the men his cash, and the suspects fled the scene on foot, police said.
Authorities said nobody was hurt in the incident. Police set up a perimeter and used a K-9, but couldn’t locate the suspects. The case is still under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call Newport Police. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is assisting with the investigation.
