MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The family of a man killed during a struggle with police in a Minneapolis basement plans to speak out about it Thursday afternoon.
Terrance Franklin died on May 10 after a chase in an Uptown neighborhood. Two police officers were shot during the struggle.
Franklin’s family is upset about the time between the incident and when the officers involved in the shooting gave statements.
Police planned to interview those officers last week.
On Thursday, Franklin’s family will ask for legislation requiring officers to give statements soon after incidents like this.
Chief Janee Harteau said in a statement that the department has maintained the integrity of the investigation by consistently declining to respond to speculation.
