MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) – Eden Prairie Police say a bloody tissue was found during their continued search for a missing 24-year-old woman.
Authorities began another day of searching for Mandy Matula on Sunday, after she went missing on May 1.
Around 10 a.m., a group of people searching the area near Scenic Heights Road, near Eden Prairie Road (County Road 4), discovered what appeared to be small pieces of a bloody tissue.
Police closed the area off to the public, including a portion of Scenic Heights Road, between Red Oak Drive and Village Woods Drive, to investigate further.
The tissue discovery appears to be unrelated to Matula’s disappearance but Eden Prairie Police have designated the area as a crime scene until that determination can be made.
Eden Prairie police say they believe the ex-boyfriend, 24-year-old David Roe, likely traveled in parts of Stearns County after he was last seen with 24-year-old Mandy Matula, so officials there joined in the search Sunday. Police also say unspecified items of interest led to a search in Carver County Sunday.
Roe, of Victoria, died after a self-inflicted gun shot wound to the head. Roe had been brought in by police for questioning in Matula’s disappearance when he shot himself in the police station parking lot.
Police have asked Eden Prairie residents to look around their property for any possible evidence. Anyone with information about Matula’s whereabouts is asked to call Eden Prairie Police at 952-949-6200.
