MAPLEWOOD, Minn. (WCCO) – Friends and family of Kira Trevino, the St. Paul woman missing since February, gathered Thursday night to pray for justice and for closure.

Dozens showed up for a candlelight vigil at Keller Lake in Maplewood, Minn., where searches for 30-year-old Kira Trevino’s body have centered.

But sonar cameras and cadaver dogs have turned up nothing, so far.

“Everybody that met her, loved her instantly,” said her father. “She had that kind of personality.”

Police believe Kira’s husband, Jeff Trevino, killed her at the couple’s home last month. Just five minutes away from the Trevino home is Keller Lake, where police have been focusing their search.

Authorities drilled dozens of holes across the lake, and more than one dog has indicated there could be something beneath the ice.

And in the past week, several items with Kira’s DNA have been found around the lake.

Kira’s family says they hope to find the body so they can give her a proper burial.

“We’re not going to stop until Kira is found, and we can bring her home,” her father said.

Kira’s father and family said they plan to be at Friday’s hearing when her husband makes his next appearance. Jeff Trevino is currently held on $1 million bond.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police, and Kira’s family said volunteers are welcome to join in another search of Keller Lake on Saturday.
