ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – A new trend in viral videos has St. Paul police concerned — it’s called “gallon smashing.”
Teenagers are recording themselves at grocery stores picking up gallons of milk or juice, pretending to fall and spilling the liquid all over.
Police say just like the Harlem Shake or flash mobs, this is quickly gaining popularity with teens.
Just this past weekend, a 16-year-old was arrested for disorderly conduct and damage to property at the Midway Target when she tried to reenact the video.
“From damaging product, to spending time cleaning it up, and all the products the milk comes in contact with, it’s a mess. And people can slip, creating the potential for a severe injury,” said St. Paul Police Sgt. Paul Paulos.
