WALKER, Minn. (AP) — A northern Minnesota man has pleaded guilty to fatally stabbing another man after an argument at a party last year.
Cass County Attorney Christopher Strandlie says 24-year-old Frank Jesse LaRose of Longville pleaded guilty Thursday to second-degree murder.
LaRose was accused of stabbing 31-year-old James Elmberg of Walker during a party on Feb. 5, 2012.
Prosecutors say LaRose and another person began arguing and Elmberg intervened. LaRose says he thought Elmberg was lunging at him and struck him in the chest with a knife.
Elmberg died at Crosby Hospital. LaRose says he did not intend to kill Elmberg.
Sentencing is scheduled for April 4.
