MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Amy Senser’s attorney filed a formal appeal on Wednesday in connection with Senser’s criminal vehicular homicide conviction in May.
Senser, the wife of former Viking and restaurateur Joe Senser, was sentenced to 41 months in prison in August in connection with the death of Anousone Phanthavong, a Minneapolis chef.
In the appeal brief, Senser’s attorney, Eric Nelson, argues that there was insufficient evidence to sustain Senser’s criminal convictions, and that “errors of law and abuses of discretion” occurred in trial’s proceeding.
Nelson is calling for the criminal vehicular homicide convictions to be reversed and that Senser’s case be remanded for a new trial.
