MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Police are investigating after two parties of duck hunters got into an argument that led to shots being fired.
Dakota County Sheriff Deputies were called to Spring Lake Park on a report of shots fired at a duck hunter around 2:37 p.m. Thursday.
Upon arrival, they spoke with a hunter who said he was confronted by another hunting party as he was placing his decoys in the water. Words were exchanged, he said, and the argument grew heated.
At that time, shot were fired by one hunting party at the hunters in the water placing the decoys. The victim and witnesses told police pellets hit the side of their boat but no one was injured.
Dakota County deputies began searching for the suspects. At 3:45 p.m., a suspect was apprehended on an island near the assault. He was positively identified by the victim and arrested.
The investigation will be completed by the sheriff’s office and sent to the Dakota County Attorney’s Office for possible charges.
