NORTHFIELD, Minn. (WCCO/AP) – Rice County sheriff’s officials say they’ve arrested a gunman who robbed a Northfield hotel and fired at officers.
According to the Northfield Police Department, the robbery happened at an America’s Best Value Inn on Riverview Drive a little before 3 a.m.
Police say a man wearing a black ski mask and carrying a silver handgun was one of two people believed involved in the robbery.
A female passenger in the vehicle described to have been involved in the incident was taken into custody, but the man, who police say they believe to be 26-year-old Eric Forcier of Northfield, fled the scene.
The suspect fired his gun at officers, police said.
The area was sealed off, and a number of police agencies were called to the scene, including SWAT forces. Deputy sheriff Dave Stensrud says a police dog helped track down the suspect in Northfield.
