MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Police say they have located the suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred over the weekend.
Authorities were asking for the public’s help to identify the person responsible for hitting and killing a man around 2:40 a.m. Saturday at Third Street North and First Avenue in Minneapolis.
Twenty-year-old Austin Conley, a freshman at Augsburg College, was struck by a vehicle that was traveling west on Third Street. He was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
Police say they located the suspect and the suspect vehicle on Monday. The man was arrested in Ramsey County.
“There’s been an arrest in the deadly hit-and-run accident. The vehicle has been located also, and we are awaiting charges from the Hennepin County attorneys office,” Sgt. Stephen McCarty said.
The family of Conley say he was a deeply caring person, who never judged others. He will be remembered today at Chapel services at the college.
