MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Crime Lab – a state-of-the-art forensics laboratory that serves 35 agencies — has a new director, authorities say.
Sheriff Rich Stanek named Scott Giles the lab’s new director. He started on Monday.
Giles comes from the Illinois State Police, in which he served for 27 years. At the time of his retirement, he was the Colonel of the Division of Forensic Services. During his time in Illinois, Giles worked as a state trooper, an investigator, and in the following departments: administration, operations and information and technology, authorities said.
Giles is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, the FBI National Academy and the Senior Management Institute for Police. He has won many awards for his work, authorities said.
