St. Paul Man Charged With Grazing 8-Year-Old Boy

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A 19-year-old St. Paul man faces six total counts of second-degree assault in two different shooting incidents, including one that left an 8-year-old grazed by a bullet as the little boy was outside playing.

According to two criminal complaints filed in Ramsey County, Gregory James Cook Jr. faces four counts of second-degree assault for shooting at another gang member on or about May 15 near Thomas and Edmund avenues in St. Paul. Police said one of his shots ended up hitting and injuring an 8-year-old boy.

Cook is also charged with allegedly shooting four to six shots near Sherburne Avenue and Dale Street on June 5 in St. Paul.

Cook is in custody with a $75,000 bail.

Each second-degree assault charge carries a maximum of seven years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
