STILLWATER, Minn. (WCCO) – A man is accused of stealing a television set from the lobby of a Stillwater hospital after claiming he needed a place to stay for awhile because his mother had just died.
The theft happened at Lakeview Hospital early Monday morning.
A security guard told authorities that a man had asked if he could stay there for awhile before getting a 20-ounce soda from a vending machine and settling in front of one of the two TVs located in the hospital’s emergency room lobby.
Staffers say that within 15 minutes, both the man and the TV he was watching were gone. Surveillance video showed the man carrying the television and leaving the hospital.
A representative from the City of Stillwater said that the suspect was identified and cited. He admitted to taking the television, which was returned to the hospital.
