MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – An investigation of a Forest Lake High School lockdown Wednesday found that a male student brought a knife and nunchucks to school, police said.
Cpt. Greg Weiss, of the Forest Lake Police Department, said authorities took a male student into custody, but they did not find a gun in his possession, as was reported.
However, authorities did find a pocket knife and nunchucks in his backpack. The suspect, who was not named, did not threaten anyone or display the weapons at the school, Weiss said.
The student was cited with a misdemeanor charge, Weiss said, and was picked up by a relative at the police department at around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Initially, Weiss said the lockdown happened at 11:25 a.m. when an 18-year-old (or 19-year-old) male student was reported to be carrying a gun.
The high school was under lockdown for about a half hour while authorities located the suspected student. Century Junior High School and the district office were also put on lockdown as a precautionary measure, Weiss said.
