MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 32-year-old man is accused of pulling a gun on a Minneapolis Traffic Control agent last month after getting a ticket, according to charges filed Thursday in Hennepin County Court.
Hugh Luther Saddler was charged with one count of terroristic threats in connection with the March 16 incident.
According to authorities, Minneapolis Police were called to the area of 22nd Street East and 24th Avenue South on a report of an assault with a gun. When authorities arrived, they learned that a traffic control safety agent had been confronted by a man later identified as Saddler after she issued him a ticket for not having a front license plate.
As the traffic officer was trying to drive away, Saddler blocked her vehicle with his. He got out of his car, was angry and reached for something in his front pocket. She told Saddler she was going to call the police if he didn’t leave, and he told her there wouldn’t be time to call for help, according to authorities.
He then pulled out something with a black handle that looked like a handgun, police said.
The female traffic officer turned on her lights and got away. Police located Saddler a short time later and found a handgun with a black handle inside his vehicle.
The incident is still under investigation by the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office.
