MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A 51-year-old man is behind bars after police say he made a bomb threat at a Wells Fargo bank — but when the bomb squad responded, all they found were a bunch of sugar packets.

Minneapolis Police were notified about a bomb threat on April 10 at the Minneapolis Wells Fargo Bank, in which a man said there was a bomb in the safety deposit box area.

Police say the man, later identified as John Henry Cleveland, of St. Louis Park, Minn., was led to his safety deposit box by a female employee. After 30 minutes, Cleveland allegedly insinuated that there was a bomb in his box and that the employee “better go check.”

The employee called police and said Cleveland made the same or similar statements about a bomb three times before walking out of the area.

The bomb squad responded and removed personal papers and sweet-and-low artificial sugar packets from his safety deposit box.

Cleveland admitted to police that he claimed he had a bomb. He is currently in custody.
