MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Minneapolis Police are confirming that they have a man in custody for last week’s stabbing of a woman at a downtown parking ramp.
Sgt. Steve McCarty says the man was arrested later Thursday for an unrelated incident. It was after tip calls that police were able to put the case together.
“Through a series of tip calls, and people who might of recognized some of the surveillance photos and gave the (suspect) a name,” McCarty said. “The names matched (with the individual) who’s in custody.”
Thursday’s stabbing happened just before 4 p.m. in the McGladrey Plaza parking ramp. A 28-year-old woman was walking to her car when she was attacked by the man and stabbed in the abdomen. She sustained non-life threatening injuries, but was hospitalized at HCMC.
McCarty would not say what the man was arrested for, but he says it was not related to the stabbing. He says investigators are forwarding their case to the Hennepin County Attorney for charges.
