IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — A 34-year-old Iowa City man who was burned in an accident has been charged with a misdemeanor: reckless use of fire.
Iowa City police say Daryl Goolsby was burned on Jan. 3 and hospitalized.
Police say he told officers that he was trying to hide paperwork from his wife by burning it.
But Goolsby caused a ball of flame that engulfed him when he added some gasoline to a bowl holding the papers.
A Johnson County jailer said Wednesday that Goolsby has left custody.
A public phone listing for him could not be found. Online court records don’t list the name of his attorney.
