MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A Lakeville man has been charged with two counts of solicitation after police say he tried to meet up with a 13-year-old for sexual activity after the two met on Craigslist.
According to the criminal complaint, Robert Trummer, 49, posted on Craigslist, “Daddys looking — m4m-49 … For his boi.” A boy, who Trummer believed to be 14 years old, responded to his post saying “hi .. im a boi.”
The two exchanged messages over email — including one where the boy said he was 14 and asked if that was too young, to which Trummer responded no. The boy sent Trummer a photo of himself wearing a swimsuit and the two organized plans to meet.
They decided to meet at a park in Lakeville. Trummer told the boy he’d be driving a blue SUV. Police spotted the SUV sitting in the park’s parking lot and arrested him. In plain view, officers saw beer and lotion in the vehicle.
The boy’s father also told police he saw a blue SUV drive by his home very slowly on Jan. 31 and that the driver of the SUV was looking closely at the home. He said the driver passed the home, turned around and drove by again.
Trummer is charged with two counts of solicitation of a minor to engage in sexual conduct. If convicted, he could face up to three years in prison and/or up to a $5,000 fine.
