BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The son of an 83-year-old Bismarck woman has been charged with murdering her.
Dean Grenstiner is to make his first court appearance late Friday. He faces a murder charge that carries a maximum penalty of life in prison without parole.
Grenstiner was charged earlier with stealing his mother’s car after she was found dead Tuesday in her Bismarck home.
Authorities say Ann Grenstiner died from being beaten in the head.
Police tracked Dean Grenstiner’s cell phone to a Salvation Army office in Moorhead, Minn. He was taken to the Fargo Police Department and arrested there for stealing his mother’s car.
Authorities said Friday they found evidence later to justify charging him with murder.
