SOUTH ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) — There is a reward tonight to find a man who kidnapped a 12-year-old girl at a bus stop and took off with her in his car.

She eventually escaped and called 911. She said the man lured her into his car at a bus stop at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Southview Boulevard in South St. Paul around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The girl told police she lost consciousness inside of the car and later woke up in Minneapolis near the intersection of 41st and Hiawatha Avenue.

She then used her cell phone to call police. Investigators said she wasn’t physically harmed, but was upset. South St. Paul Police Chief Dan Vujovich believes she was lucky to get away.

“We hear many, many stories across the United States of what happens to a child that is abducted. And yes, in that sense she is lucky. In the other sense, no. No child should have to go through this,” said Vujovich.

The girl says the man was about 5 foot, 9 inches tall with a medium build and brown hair. She says he had a tattoo of a woman on one of his forearms and a mole or pimple above his lip.

The girl also told police the man was driving an older, white, four-door Toyota sedan. If that sounds familiar, please give the police a call.

You can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward in this case.
