MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A veteran Minneapolis firefighter has been charged with fifth-degree possession after he was found with methamphetamine.

Lawrence Wajda Jr., 42, was arrested Tuesday morning at his University of Minnesota Fire Station. A search warrant was conducted of his sleeping area and locker at the station and approximately 0.5 grams of meth was found on Wajda.

Also arrested at the station was 33-year-old Autumn Marie Ronning. She is not a firefighter. Police discovered a luggage bag in Wajda’s sleeping area, which had a pill of Ecstasy inside. Ronning told police the Ecstasy was hers. She also had warrants out for her arrest.

Wajda was charged with fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance Wednesday afternoon.

This is at least the second time Wajda has been in trouble over drug charges. Next month, he goes on trial in Anoka County in connection with a traffic stop where he was allegedly found with marijuana and a meth pipe on him.
