ST. PAUL (WCCO) — A 27-year-old man has been sentenced to 36 years in prison for the Nov. 9, 2010 murder of Joseph John Sanchez.

Nicholas Theodore Jackson was found guilty of second-degree murder on Feb. 13. His co-defendant Nathan Nicholas Durick, 28, is currently serving a 38-year prison term for the same crime.

According to the criminal complaint, Jackson and Sanchez had a long-standing feud over a woman, who was the mother to each of their children. Police say Durick and Jackson bought guns and ammunition and went to practice shooting before confronting Sanchez at a residence.

Police were called to the house and found Sanchez wounded and kneeling in the yard. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Durick told police that both he and Jackson had fired shots at Sanchez in an alley behind the house before fleeing.
