MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Prosecutors are hoping a Florida doctor’s testimony could be a crucial element in their case against Amy Senser.

Prosecutors want to fly in Dr. Rick Sponaugle of Palm Harbor Florida for Senser’s trial. He works at a center that specializes in treating addiction and chronic pain.

Court documents show Senser’s husband talked to Sponaugle about the hit-and-run accident his wife was allegedly involved in. The records suggest Senser admitted she knew she hit someone.

Senser’s attorney has maintained she knew she hit something the night of the accident, but had no idea it was a person.

Thirty-eight-year-old Anousone Phanthavong was hit and killed along the Riverside exit ramp off of Interstate 94 in August last year. Amy Senser is charged with two counts of criminal vehicular homicide and her trial is scheduled to begin on April 23.

Senser is the wife of former Minnesota Vikings player Joe Senser.
