MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A 30-year-old man has been sentenced to two years in prison for smuggling AK-47 parts to Paraguay.

Fabian Patricio Lojano-Lojano, of Minneapolis, was sentenced Tuesday in St. Paul on one count of smuggling goods from the U.S. He was charged Oct. 12, 2011 and pleaded guilty Oct. 27, 2011.

Lojano-Lojano admitted in his plea agreement to dropping off a package June 23, 2010 at a UPS station in Minneapolis, which he claimed contained T-shirts but actually contained parts for AK-47 rifles.

On July 1, 2010, the UPS station received additional packages from Lojano-Lojano with the same destination address as the previous packages. Those packages also contained parts for six AK-47 rifles.

In all, Lojano-Lojano admitted sending packages to Paraguay on 46 occasions between September of 2009 and June of 2010.
