MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police are investigating what led up to a pair of drive-by shootings in north Minneapolis early Saturday morning and if they are related.

Authorities responded to the first shooting at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday on the 2900 block of Aldrich Avenue North. Police said a juvenile female was shot in the ankle while inside the home. Around 10 gun shots were fired into the front of the house from the outside, according to police. There are no suspects in custody at this time.

An officer at the scene said the victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

Around 5 a.m., police received a call about damage to property at another home on that same block. It was another drive-by shooting that was across the street from the first incident. Nobody was injured in that shooting, where at least six gun shots were fired. Authorities are not sure if the home was occupied at the time of the shooting. There are no suspects in custody for this shooting either.

Police aren’t saying if the two incidents are related at this time. They both remain under investigation at this time. The shootings happened just three blocks from where 3-year-old Terrell Mayes Jr. was killed inside his home back in December.

Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call Minneapolis Police.
