MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Bloomington police arrested a 39-year-old man for allegedly throwing a metal vise through an Iraq War veteran’s windshield and breaking his jaw.
Gerret Parks is currently in custody at the Bloomington Police Department, according to Deputy Chief Rick Hart.
The vise that Parks allegedly threw broke Jon Stacke’s jaw and shattered six of his teeth. Stacke also suffered cuts on his face and eyes after the shattered windshield flew into his face.
The incident happened on the evening of Feb. 27, when Stacke and a friend were returning from Normandale Lake. As the two turned south on Normandale Boulevard, the vise came crashing through the windshield.
Stacke said he thought he heard an explosion when the windshield shattered.
After the vise hit him in the mouth, Stacke stepped on the accelerator. Stacke’s friend took control of the situation by taking the steering wheel, putting the car in neutral and pulling the emergency brake.
Stacke recovered from his injuries at the Hennepin County Medical Center.
Stacke’s incident is the sixth reported of someone throwing objects near Normandale Boulevard.
The incident is still under investigation, Hart said.
