MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Three more people have been charged in connection with what investigators are calling a 17-year-old Waseca boy’s plot to kill his family and stage a Columbine-like attack on his school.

According to the Waseca Police Department, two 17-year-old males and a 40-year-old man all face criminal charges.

One of the two juveniles is accused of helping John David LaDue, 17, construct incendiary devices and attempting to set them off in a field near the Waseca Junior-Senior High School.

LaDue was arrested in April after he was spotted acting suspicious outside a self-storage facility. Authorities later found explosive-making material inside.

Police say LaDue told them he planned to “shoot and kill as many students as he could.” He appeared in court earlier this week at a probable cause hearing.

Waseca Police say that the other juvenile male just charged in Waseca District Court helped LaDue buy chemicals to construct the incendiary devices.

Additionally, 40-year-old Michael Jacobs is charged with selling a .45-caliber handgun and magazine to LaDue last fall and failing to report the sale to law enforcement.

Police stressed that though these three people were charged, LaDue is the only person they believe knew of the alleged plot to attack students and staff.
