MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 24-year-old Bloomington woman was arrested early Sunday morning after she allegedly stabbed her husband during a jealous, drunken argument, according to charges filed Wednesday in Hennepin County Court.
Niccola Lekya Alumku was charged with one felony count of second-degree assault in connection with the incident.
According to a complaint, Minneapolis Police were called to a report of a stabbing at 4:23 a.m. Sunday on the 900 block of 4th Street NE in Minneapolis. The woman, later identified as Alumku, called police saying she had just stabbed her husband in the back with a kitchen knife.
When authorities arrived, they found an adult male victim with at least two stab wounds in his back. He told police that they had been arguing, and she stabbed him in the back twice with a kitchen knife, the complaint states.
Alumku told police the two had been drinking heavily the night before and during an argument over jealousy, the man slapped her. She responded by stabbing him twice. Alumku is currently in custody.
If convicted, she faces more than a year in jail and a fine up to $14,000.
