MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The Minnesota State Patrol is asking for the public’s help in finding a semi-truck driver who almost hit a sixth grader while illegally passing a school bus on Friday.
Lt. Eric Roske says the incident happened on Highway 23 near New London and Paynesville when a bus had stopped to pick up a girl.
The bus driver had turned the flashing lights on and had put the stop arm in position when a semi truck drove at a high speed between the bus and the shoulder.
Witnesses say the student was almost struck by the semi, but no one was injured. A dashboard camera on the bus was able to capture the moment.
Lt. Brian Reu of the Minnesota State Patrol says witnesses were unable to provide enough details to investigators because the incident happened so fast.
Anyone with information is asked the call Lt. Reu at 651-405-6047.
