MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities said a three-day operation that ended last Thursday resulted in the arrest of 33 illegal immigrants in Minneapolis and other metro areas in Nebraska and Iowa.

U.S. Immigration officials conducted the bust last week and made arrests including drug distribution, sexual assault, weapons offenses, aggravated assault, robbery, domestic assault, DUI and fraud. Among the 33 arrests, nine had previously been deported and six others were fugitives who had warrants for deportation.

The arrests included 30 men and three women. Among those arrested was a 54-year-old Jamaican man who had previously been deported. He had been convicted for attempted distribution of cocaine and using a firearm, and was arrested May 21 in Brooklyn Center for felony re-entry after deportation.

Authorities said anyone re-entering the country illegally after having been previously deported faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
