MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The man accused of shooting a northern Minnesota sheriff’s deputy says he doesn’t remember pulling the trigger.

Steven Henderson, 19, was charged Thursday with first-degree attempted murder of a peace officer as well as receiving stolen property and bringing stolen goods into the state.

Henderson and his brother were pulled over in a pickup with no license plates Tuesday morning near Perley, Minn.

When deputy Nathan Warren discovered the younger brother had a warrant out for his arrest, the deputy put him in the back of his squad car.

The criminal complaint says that when Warren turned around, Steven Henderson fired several shots at him.

The deputy was hit in the back and chest, but was wearing a bullet-proof vest.

Henderson took off and was arrested two hours later.

He told police the brothers stole the pickup truck in Oklahoma, and he didn’t remember shooting Warren.
