MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A St. Paul teen was sentenced Wednesday to more than 23 years in prison for the shooting death of a West St. Paul man in January of 2013, according to the Dakota County Attorney’s office.

Donovan Michael Diego, 19, was convicted of second-degree intentional murder in connection with the death of 31-year-old David Reyes-Galvan on January 11, 2013.

Diego, who was 16 at the time of the crime, was indicted by a Dakota County grand jury last October alongside Cristino Andres Rosario and Malik Jamal Alize Farmer.

The three allegedly showed up to Galvan’s home to rob him with guns they acquired in a robbery on the previous day, but he was not home.

The trio waited for the victim to return, and shot him in the shoulder upon arrival after a brief altercation.

Galvan died from blood loss at Regions Hospital.

The cases against Rosario and Farmer – who were 18 and 17 at the time of the crime – are still pending.
