SARTELL, Minn. (WCCO) — Authorities are investigating the shooting of a 20-year-old man behind a strip mall in Sartell late Thursday morning.
Police were first notified that a man was brought to St. Cloud’s CentraCare Health Plaza with a gunshot wound to the chest just before noon, according to Sartell Police Chief Jim Hughes.
Investigators later learned the shooting occurred behind the Sprint store at 1733 Pine Cone Rd. S. in Sartell, which is about five miles away from CentraCare.
The victim was then taken by ambulance to St. Cloud Hospital.
Police took a suspect into custody at about 3:30 p.m., and they are being held at the Stearns County Jail.
The victim’s name and condition have not yet been released.
The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting the Sartell, St. Cloud and St. Joseph police departments, as well as the Stearns County Sheriff’s office and the Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force.
