MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities are investigating after a man was found dead at Minnesota State Security Hospital in St. Peter in what they said was an act of violence.
St. Peter Police responded to the hospital at about 7:53 p.m. Wednesday. When authorities arrived, they found a man lying in his room who had appeared to have suffered injuries from violent trauma. The man, identified as 41-year-old Michael Francis Douglas, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said a 31-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident for probable cause murder. He was identified as Darnell Dee Whitefather. He’s currently being held in the Nicollet County Jail and is awaiting criminal charges.
St. Peter Police said the incident is still under investigation with assistance from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
