MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities have identified a 20-year-old woman who was killed on a western Wis. lake when the snowmobile she was riding, being operated by a drunk driver, hit an ice house.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim Friday as Victoria G. Henderson of Luck, Wis.
Authorities were called to the scene at about 10:03 p.m. Wednesday on Bone Lake near Luck, Wis. Investigators learned a snowmobile that was traveling with another sled had crashed into an ice house and the passenger, Henderson, suffered severe head injuries. Emergency crews attempted CPR on her at the scene, but she was pronounced dead. She was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Authorities arrested the 21-year-old male driver for operating a snowmobile while intoxicated. He was identified as Nicholas Krenzel of St. Croix Falls, Wis.
What led up to the crash is still under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Wisconsin DNR.
