MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities are asking for the public’s help to find a vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run crash Saturday night that killed two pedestrians in western Wisconsin.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the incident at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Authorities said two men were hit by a vehicle that was traveling southbound on County Highway E in northeastern Polk County. The two men were involved in an altercation at a nearby residence that spilled out onto the roadway just before they were hit.

Authorities said they are looking for a dark colored pick-up truck that may have two auxiliary amber warning lights mounted to the top of the cab. Witnesses at the scene also said there was a blue plastic barrel in the box of the truck. The pick-up truck will likely have damage to the front undercarriage.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said at least two people were inside the pick-up truck, both believed to be white men. Both men were wearing baseball caps and at least one man was wearing blue jeans. The driver of the truck stopped briefly at the scene before leaving southbound on County Road E.

The names of the victims have not been released. Authorities said the incident is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. St. Croix Tribal Police are assisting with the investigation.
