MONTGOMERY, Minn. (WCCO) – Investigators say they have taken a teenager into custody after his father was found shot in the head in Montgomery, Minn.
The incident happened at about 11 p.m. on Monday on the 10600 block of Le Sueur Avenue.
According to the Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office, officers found 48-year-old Richard Joseph Nelson dead at the scene. He had sustained a gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators said they were able to locate a suspect quickly and take him into custody. Chief Deputy Dave Tietz identified him as 18-year-old Jonas David Nelson. The two are father and son.
There is no risk to the public, according to the Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office.
